¿Do you need a Unity Developer?

My first contact with a videogame was with Pokémon Sapphire on the Game Boy Advance. That Christmas gift sparked a curiosity that defined my career: how is it possible to encapsulate an entire interactive experience in this device?

Today, after 6 years of experience in Unity and C#, I have gone from asking myself that question to answering it through code. As a Gameplay Engineer with experience in tool development (Tooling), I understand that the magic of a game lies not only in its interactivity, but also in the robustness of the systems that support it. Throughout my career, I have learned that programming is not “crazy stuff,” but rather an exercise in architecture and empathy with the player.

My approach seeks not only to create fluid mechanics, but also to optimize the team's workflow through tools that facilitate creative iteration.

Earth Pulse

Combat-based RPG / Music

A combat-based RPG in which the game mechanics are governed by the rhythm of music.

The Challenge

In a music-reactive simulation, the biggest challenge is not only frequency detection, but how to efficiently synchronize multiple disparate systems (VFX, AI behavior, and UI) without creating highly coupled ‘spaghetti’ code. The challenge was to enable any object in the game to react to different frequency ranges in a dynamic and configurable way, while maintaining performance at 60 FPS.

The Solution

I designed a Centralized Event Architecture supported by a Modular Editor System based on the Strategy Pattern. Instead of rigid scripts, I implemented a system where reaction behaviors (reacting to bass, midrange, or pulse) are interchangeable ‘Strategies’. In addition, I developed custom tools for the Inspector (IndividualActionsCreatorWindow and Custom Attributes) that allow designers to map audio data to game events in real time without touching a single line of code, completely decoupling the engine logic from the data configuration.
