Why I created this project?
This project was done thinking about a concept called “Unfair Advantage” by authors Hasan KubbaHasan Kubba and Ash Ali from the book “The Unfair Advantage”, this concept refers to the set of skills of a person that brings extra value to the same end and makes it very difficult for other people to replicate.
In my case, this “Unfair Advantage” is the experience I have in 2 areas that are also part of game development such as design and music. I have worked as a designer of both logos and UI/UX for 2 years which gives me a little deeper knowledge of the design process, on the other hand I was part of a symphony orchestra as an instrumentalist for over 11 years and studied composition and harmony independently during that period of time.
All this, together, allows me to have a deep and extensive knowledge of the creative processes that also form a very important part in the development of video games allowing me not only to communicate effectively with these departments if necessary but also to transfer them in a simpler and more creative way to the technical area of programming.
What roles did I play in this project?
As it was a project in which I had to exploit the concept described above, I developed the roles of: Developer, UI Designer and Music Composer. This means that I was in charge of all the programming, the design of the interfaces except for most of the icons and composing the music for the game.
What are the interesting features of this project?
Being a combat based game where the player is guided by the music, patience and concentration play an important role, when you hit an enemy with a light attack or a heavy attack a combo check sequence starts, the combos (sequences of attacks) must be executed to the rhythm of the music.
When you achieve it your damage will be increased in a specific percentage depending on the combo executed (there are 4 combos) and if you miss an attack (do not hit the enemy or do not press the correct input) the last percentage added to your damage is subtracted (your damage will never be less than the base damage), this causes that the player must be concentrated to try not to lose the buffs of the combos to be able to finish with powerful enemies.
